A positive driving test result is just the beginning of the road to obtaining full driver's rights. Before you get behind the wheel as an independent driver, you must complete several formalities. Here's how the entire process looks β from passing the test to receiving your plastic driving license.
Step by step: what to do after passing the exam?
- Receive your exam completion certificate at the examination center (WORD). The examiner submits your result to the CEPIK system, and you receive written confirmation.
- Pay the fee for issuing a driving license. The standard fee is 100.50 PLN. You can pay by transfer, card, or cash at the office.

Submit an application for a driving license in the traffic department for your place of residence (county office or city hall). Attach to the application:
- ID card,
- exam completion certificate,
- current photo,
- proof of payment.
- Wait for the document to be produced. The office orders the driving license print from the Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW). This usually takes 7 to 14 working days, although the maximum statutory time is 30 days.
- Check your driving license status online on the info-car.pl website. This way you'll find out when your document will be ready for pickup.
- Collect your plastic driving license at the office. From this moment, you can legally drive a vehicle in Poland and abroad.
Can you drive a car before picking up your plastic driving license?
Since 2023, after passing the exam, you can use a temporary electronic driving license available in the mObywatel app. It is valid for 30 days from the date of the exam and allows you to legally drive a vehicle in Poland β provided that your result has been entered into the CEPIK system. After 30 days or after receiving the plastic document, you must already have a physical driving license.
Attention! Simply confirming that you passed the exam does NOT authorize you to drive β you must have active permissions in the system or a temporary document in mObywatel. Driving without these permissions risks a high fine.
How to check if your driving license is ready for pickup?
- Go to the info-car.pl website and enter your PKK number or PESEL.
- The document status is updated in real time on the office's side.
- Collect the document in person at the traffic department or city hall/county office.
