Supplemental road signs (F)

Supplemental signs expand on the main information shown on the road. They often appear near junctions, road works or public transport corridors. Study their English explanations to better understand detour diagrams and lane control boards.

F-3 Road sign F-3 - Administrative area border Administrative area border with the inscriptions “voivodeship”, “county” or “municipality” and with the placed names informs about entry respectively into the area of a voivodeship, a county and a municipality, a county and a municipality, or a municipality.
F-4 Road sign F-4 - River name River name Gives the name of the river or other watercourse over which the road runs.
F-5 Road sign F-5 - Advance warning of a prohibition Advance warning of a prohibition Warns of a prohibition sign placed on the road at the distance indicated on the sign.
F-6 Road sign F-6 - Advance sign placed before an intersection Advance sign placed before an intersection Warns, by means of the appropriate sign shown on it, of a danger or prohibition occurring beyond the intersection on the indicated road.
F-7 Road sign F-7 - Manner of driving in connection with the prohibition on turning left Manner of driving in connection with the prohibition on turning left Indicates access to the road onto which turning left is prohibited.
F-8 Road sign F-8 - Detour in connection with road closure Detour in connection with road closure Indicates the designated detour. If the sign includes a sign prohibiting entry of specified vehicles, it means that the detour applies to the vehicles indicated on the prohibition sign.
F-9 Road sign F-9 - Leading sign on a detour route Leading sign on a detour route Indicates the direction of vehicle traffic on the designated detour.
F-10 Road sign F-10 - Lane directions Lane directions Indicates the permitted, in accordance with the arrows placed on the sign, directions of travel from individual traffic lanes.

The arrow placed on the sign permitting a left turn from the far-left traffic lane also means permission to make a U-turn, unless it is prohibited by the sign B-23 or traffic is directed by the signal S-3.
F-11 Road sign F-11 - Lane directions (above the lane) Lane directions (above the lane) Indicates the permitted, in accordance with the arrows placed on the sign, directions of travel from the lane above which the sign has been placed.

The arrow placed on the sign permitting a left turn from the far-left traffic lane also means permission to make a U-turn, unless it is prohibited by the sign B-23 or traffic is directed by the signal S-3.

F-19 Road sign F-19 - Lane for specified vehicles Lane for specified vehicles Indicates a designated traffic lane on the carriageway intended for the vehicles indicated on the sign.
F-20 Road sign F-20 - Part of the road (traffic lane) for specified vehicles Part of the road (traffic lane) for specified vehicles Indicates a road or part of it intended for vehicles whose symbol has been placed on the sign. Instead of the symbol of a vehicle with a permissible maximum gross weight up to 3.5 t, the sign may include the vehicle symbol used on supplementary plates, as appropriate to the manner in which the road or its part is designated.
F-21 Road sign F-21 - Traffic redirected to the adjacent carriageway Traffic redirected to the adjacent carriageway Indicates turning onto the adjacent carriageway in connection with temporary traffic organization.
F-22 Road sign F-22 - Lane restrictions Lane restrictions Indicates the traffic lane on which traffic of vehicles specified by the symbol of the prohibition sign is prohibited.
F-23 Road sign F-23 - Multifunctional centre lane Multifunctional centre lane The multifunctional centre lane is used for safe left turns and for joining traffic from side roads and driveways. It is used in built-up areas between junctions, and overtaking is prohibited along its length.
