Supplemental road signs (F)

Supplemental signs expand on the main information shown on the road. They often appear near junctions, road works or public transport corridors. Study their English explanations to better understand detour diagrams and lane control boards.

F-1	Border crossing	Informs about an open border crossing
F-2	Crossing the border prohibited	Informs that traffic across the border is closed.
F-2a	National border	Informs about the place of crossing the border of the Republic of Poland.
F-3	Administrative area border	with the inscriptions “voivodeship”, “county” or “municipality” and with the placed names informs about entry respectively into the area of a voivodeship, a county and a municipality, a county and a municipality, or a municipality.
F-4	River name	Gives the name of the river or other watercourse over which the road runs.
F-5	Advance warning of a prohibition	Warns of a prohibition sign placed on the road at the distance indicated on the sign.
F-6	Advance sign placed before an intersection	Warns, by means of the appropriate sign shown on it, of a danger or prohibition occurring beyond the intersection on the indicated road.
F-7	Manner of driving in connection with the prohibition on turning left	Indicates access to the road onto which turning left is prohibited.
F-8	Detour in connection with road closure	Indicates the designated detour. If the sign includes a sign prohibiting entry of specified vehicles, it means that the detour applies to the vehicles indicated on the prohibition sign.
F-9	Leading sign on a detour route	Indicates the direction of vehicle traffic on the designated detour.
F-10	Lane directions	Indicates the permitted, in accordance with the arrows placed on the sign, directions of travel from individual traffic lanes. The arrow placed on the sign permitting a left turn from the far-left traffic lane also means permission to make a U-turn, unless it is prohibited by the sign B-23 or traffic is directed by the signal S-3.
F-11	Lane directions (above the lane)	Indicates the permitted, in accordance with the arrows placed on the sign, directions of travel from the lane above which the sign has been placed. The arrow placed on the sign permitting a left turn from the far-left traffic lane also means permission to make a U-turn, unless it is prohibited by the sign B-23 or traffic is directed by the signal S-3.
F-12	Sign indicating a transit route placed before an intersection	Indicates, in accordance with the arrow, the direction of transit passage of vehicles indicated by the vehicle symbol placed on the sign
F-13	Transit route	Indicates, in accordance with the arrow, the direction of transit passage of vehicles indicated by the vehicle symbol placed on the sign
F-14a	Indicator sign on a motorway placed 300 m before the exit lane	Informs about approaching the beginning of the lane leading to the exit from the motorway (exit lane).
F-14b	Indicator sign on a motorway placed 200 m before the exit lane	Informs about approaching the beginning of the lane leading to the exit from the motorway (exit lane).
F-14c	Indicator sign on a motorway placed 100 m before the exit lane	Informs about approaching the beginning of the lane leading to the exit from the motorway (exit lane).
F-15	Asymmetrical division of the carriageway for opposite directions of traffic	Indicates traffic lanes intended for travel in the directions shown.
F-16	End of lane on a two-way carriageway	Warns of the end of the inner traffic lane on the carriageway indicated on the sign.
F-17	End of lane on a one-way carriageway	Warns of the end of the inner traffic lane on the carriageway indicated on the sign.
F-18	Opposite direction for specified vehicles	Indicates the left traffic lane intended only for vehicles specified on the sign, travelling in the opposite direction.
F-19	Lane for specified vehicles	Indicates a designated traffic lane on the carriageway intended for the vehicles indicated on the sign.
F-20	Part of the road (traffic lane) for specified vehicles	Indicates a road or part of it intended for vehicles whose symbol has been placed on the sign. Instead of the symbol of a vehicle with a permissible maximum gross weight up to 3.5 t, the sign may include the vehicle symbol used on supplementary plates, as appropriate to the manner in which the road or its part is designated.
F-21	Traffic redirected to the adjacent carriageway	Indicates turning onto the adjacent carriageway in connection with temporary traffic organization.
F-22	Lane restrictions	Indicates the traffic lane on which traffic of vehicles specified by the symbol of the prohibition sign is prohibited.
F-23	Multifunctional centre lane	The multifunctional centre lane is used for safe left turns and for joining traffic from side roads and driveways. It is used in built-up areas between junctions, and overtaking is prohibited along its length.
